How to disable Plugin container in Firefox

What is Plugin Container ?


Plugin container for firefox Isolates isolates Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plugins from the main browser.so if one of those plugin crashes the whole browser will not fail . This was done mainly due to large number ofcrashes caused by plug-ins.Mozilla Plans to add more plug-ins in later updates of Firefox.

Why I am disabling plugin-container.exe ?


In Low end system with slow speed connection the plugin container may slows down the system and it takes much resource . So it is much better to disable Plugin -container.

Steps to Disable Plugin-container.exe

Open the firefox browser type the following command in the address bar without quote "about:config".
  1. Accept this might void your warranty.
  2. When the list of preferences appears, find the following preferences type "dom.ipc" in the filter section.
  3. these for list will appear in the browser and doble click on it to make it false.
These are for windows
  • dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npctrl.dll (Microsoft Silverlight)
  • dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npqtplugin.dll (Apple QuickTime)
  • dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll (Adobe Flash)
  • dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.nptest.dll (NPAPI test plugin)
For linux

  • dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.libflashplayer.s­o (Adobe Flash)
  • dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.libnptest.so (NPAPI test plugin)
